2009 Roadshow Wrap-Up

July 7, 2009 | 1 Comment

With almost 170,000 in attendance at the shows and nearly 75,000 watching online and over 3,000 children sponsored through Compassion International, we’d like to thank all of you for making the first year of The Rock And Worship Roadshow an amazing success. Our plan is to continue to keep this thing going for years to come and only make things bigger and better, and you have been a part of starting that process.

A very special ‘Thank You’ to all the bands that performed this year; Addison Road, Tenth Avenue North, Hawk Nelson, Jeremy Camp and MercyMe all did a great job and made this tour what it was. Also with Robby from MercyMe having a little baby girl and Ryan and Jenny from Addison Road also having a little baby girl, it was great to have some amazing band filling in to keep the show going. Sidewalk Prophets, The Afters, TBA, John Reuben and Sanctus Real did amazing jobs stepping in and being great to work with.

So here’s to an amazing tour and the hope of another great tour next year. Make sure to sign up on the email list to be notified of developments on next years tour, and also make sure you are following The Roadshow on Twitter for last minute updates.

Thanks again. We’ll see you in 2010!

Where to begin? The Roadshow has been absolutely amazing. Personally, I have met so many great people and have so many memories that will stay with me for a long time to come. Thanks to everyone involved: whether you were on stage, behind the scenes, in the crowd, or watching on line. You will be missed and it was you guys that made The Roadshow special. With so many memories floating around in my head, I am curious about what your memories are? So leave a comment and share your favorite roadshow memories or a favorite moment of the show. I will start and leave the first comment.

Hawk Nelson Attacked By Robots

April 19, 2009 | 6 Comments

Hawk Nelson performed their last show on The Roadshow ‘09 last night.  According to Bart’s twitter, it was their last show ever.  Don’t worry that is not the case.  Just a case of 140 characters not being enough to be clear.

During their set they were attacked by robots, fortunately for them Jason happened to be holding a cryo gun at the time.  Fortunately for you, people were filming.

A Special Service Announcement

April 18, 2009 | 28 Comments

The following is a special service announcement:

On April 19, 2009 (tomorrow) the entire Roadshow will be broadcast from start to finish. Yes that is right, we will start broadcasting at the beginning and continue on through the end.  The line-up will be as follows:

John Reuben
Tenth Avenue North
Sanctus Real
Jeremy Camp
MercyMe

All the labels have agreed that since this is the last show they would allow us to broadcast the show as a whole.  We would like to show them how much we appreciate the opportunity by making this the biggest night yet.  This will be the first and only time that the entire show will broadcast from start to finish.  Need more motivation then one more chance to see The Roadshow in its entirety?  Don’t forget about Brody’s challenge.

Make sure to tell all of your friends and family about tomorrow night and we will see you at The RoadshowTV!

Awesome Caleb

April 18, 2009 | 7 Comments

Meet Caleb.   Caleb is awesome.   He has gained the reputation for being good at everything he tries, whether it is his first attempt or not.  In fact he is so amazing that he is the inspiration behind the website www.awesomecaleb.com (coming soon).  Here is just a little taste of what the website will feature and a little taste of what we do at The Roadshow to relax when the work is done.

Best Camera Show

April 17, 2009 | 5 Comments

the-coveted-belt

After playing the same show every night for several weeks things can get a little old. In order to spice things up we make small changes. The other night Jason Dunn was carried on stage during their intro. Little things like that make a huge difference.

To help spice things up for the video crew they started a challenge for the guys of Hawk Nelson. Who ever gave the most entertaining interaction with the cameras would win. Since the start of this competion, there has been tons of laughter from video world and a lot of entertaining camera shots from the stage.

The price for winning the competition is nothing greater then the belt pictured above and of course bragging rights.  Tonight the belt was brought to the arena in the deserving hands of Justin Benner, but was stolen by Daniel Biro.  The competition was close, but I think the deciding factor came when Daniel took the belt on stage and wore it as a necklace.

For now the belt and bragging rights belong to Daniel Biro, but tomorrow night is a completely different show.

Lunch With Reuben - Updated

April 17, 2009 | 3 Comments

john_reuben

Opening up The Roadshow last night was John Reuben, a hip-hop artist out of Columbus, OH.  As always, I was curious about the performance and eager to watch the show, apparently so was everyone else on the tour.  Both sides of the stage were filled with members of the crew and band members watching John Reuben do his thing.   What is his thing?   He is a hip-hop artist who puts on an amazing show.   He came out on stage last night and before his intro was over the crowd was pumped up ready for a show and captivated by his performance.   Young and old were dancing in the crowd with their hands up in the air.  What else can be said, John Reuben is an amazing entertainer.

I also had the privilege of sitting down and eating lunch with John and his drummer Seth.  Our conversation ranged from serious topics to simply making jokes.  During this time both men were extremely genuine and great to be around.  Make sure to head over to his website and check out what he is about and give a listen to his music.  As well you can catch him on the live stream of The Roadshow the next three dates.

Updated:

Follow John Reuben on Twitter @johnreuben.  Make sure and go say hello, he just started using twitter.

The Roadshow T-Shirt Competition

April 17, 2009 | 5 Comments

This week the t-shirt winner picker person (?) was shared between Jeff O and Mike D , from Tenth Avenue North.  It was a good week, we had some amazing t-shirts.  Though I will say last night we had one of the best t-shirts of the tour.  That leaves the last three shows to pull off something amazing.  Are you guys ready?

Where’s Robby?

April 16, 2009 | 16 Comments

You may have noticed something a little different tonight during MercyMe’s set.  Robby Shaffer, the drummer for MercyMe could not be found on found onstage, in his place was Jason Jamison of Tenth Avenue North.  Robby was not here tonight because he just became the proud new father of a baby girl.  Bart said they would give him a few days off.  That was nice of him.

This video is just a small taste of Jason rocking out with MercyMe.

It is that time again to let all of you Roadshow-ers in on a little secret. Well, it isn’t really a secret, but in case you haven’t heard, John Reuben will be replacing Addison Road’s role in The Roadshow. He will be out for the remaining four dates of The Roadshow. We are all excited to have him out as he promises to be highly entertaining on and off the stage.
